Snow, sleet and ice blanketed much of central, eastern and southern China killing dozens, cutting power and halting transport. People struggled to get home for the Lunar New Year holiday which began February 7th.
China's Ministry of Civil Affairs reported economic losses of 111 billion Yuan (15.3 billion USD) from the storm. The extreme weather killed 107 people and forced 1.5 million people to relocate. To help farmers whose crops were damaged, the government approved a 1.66 billion dollar plan (reported by ChinaDaily.com).
Bergstrom China closed on Tuesday, January 28th due to the heavy snowfall in Changzhou. But this didn't affect the normal production of Bergstrom China, and even not delay the delivery date for customers.
